Our client is a manufacturer of high quality, fresh frozen products for the food service and retail industries. They have a new opportunity for a Director of Operations at their location in New England.

Job Scope

Manage the plant production operations; and ensure the quality, service level and the cost for all products manufactured in the plant for the local market and overseas market. Manage and develop the different departments in terms of industrial competencies by coaching, training and leadership. Develop the plant in line with Company industrial strategy. Ensure strong communication between the plant and the different internal and external actors.

Serve as the chief physical plant employee in charge of the physical plant, including all operations and equipment maintenance, repairs, alternations, and code compliance for fire, safety, and environmental conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for efficient operation of production, logistics, and maintenance in collaboration with supporting functions, including QA, Finance, and Human Resources.
Define and fulfill the plant objectives and priorities.
Manage the plant operations to achieve the KPI targets through action plans and regular reviews.
Deploy continuous improvement in all areas of the plant.
Organize the missions of the different departments in order to anticipate or solve operational manufacturing issues.
Ensure the right focus and implementation on environmental safety and health action plans. Review safety implementation and training.
Set goals with Production Manager, Shipping Manager, QC Manager, and Maintenance Manager.
Supervise and evaluate plant staff performance.
Monitor production down time, and implement necessary changes to reduce problematic issues; monitor and attempt to optimize production performance.
Develop a capital budget report; act as a liaison between equipment suppliers and the Company. Evaluate all current and future capital equipment investment.

Experience/Skills/Education

Working knowledge of USDA/FDA Good Manufacturing Practices.
Ability to prepare reports; organizational skills.
Supervisory ability with considerable interpersonal skills.
10 to 12 years of production lead and supervisory experience in manufacturing environment, particularly in food production environment.
Bachelor’s degree with 8 to 10 years’ experience.
Fluent in English, secondary Spanish skills.
