Our client is a multifaceted company with over a quarter of a century history and rich tradition in the food ingredients industry. They are a multi-dimensional manufacturing enterprise dealing in proprietary, value-added food blends and a widely diverse range of ingredients. Due to a medical leave, they are currently seeking a Financial Controller in their corporate offices in Southern Iowa.

 

Position Responsibilities

This position is responsible for financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all customers, and oversee all financial, project/program accounting.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Conduct periodic audits of budget items, including comparing per diems to actual expenses and other budget-to-actual comparisons.
  • Provide relevant financial information to executive management team.
  • Generate monthly reports including accounts payable reconciliation, accounts receivable reconciliation, cast flow report, and balance sheet audits.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close process.
  • Ensure compliance of local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Maintain records of company insurance coverages, to include keeping insurance active for all facets.
  • Assist the Global Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer with special projects.
  • Support the Food Safety culture and attend all training required by the company.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Motivations

  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller.
  • BS Degree, advanced degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions, and month-end/year-end close process
  • Familiarity with office software a must, SAP preferred.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Keen attention to detail and consistent follow-up skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills; multi-tasking capabilities.

This is initially a Part-time position, with strong potential to become full-time.​
