Our client is committed to providing the freshest, most wholesome dairy products with over half a billion in revenue with 3 manufacturing plants. This position is based in Texas.

The Research Microbiologist is responsible for conducting microbiology research in the area of fermented dairy products and help with starter cultures selection and application in existing and new products. This position reports to a Principal Scientist. Daily interaction with the R&D and other teams in the plant is expected.

Responsibilities

Design and execute experiments based on project objectives and company goals.

Develop new and adapt existing methodologies.

Coordinate and manage benchtop, pilot, and large-scale experiments and make recommendations for future work.

Lead, assist and work directly with plant processing and production for large scale trials.

Conduct conventional microbiology and analytical testing when assigned.

Maintain technical documentation.

Share expertise within the R&D team and other departments.

Work with suppliers to customize ingredients for product development.

Schedule and Travel

Typically, work days are 8 hours, Monday through Friday beginning at 7:30 to 8:00am. This schedule may be changed to accommodate project schedules. Occasional travel may be needed.

Education, Training, and Experience

M.S. or PhD degree in dairy microbiology, food microbiology, or general . This is an entry level position.

Knowledge and Skills

Background in dairy starter cultures is required.

Strong knowledge and hands on experience in dairy technology is preferred.

Industry experience is desirable but not necessary

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

Knowledge of statistical analysis.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Excellent organization and time management.
