They currently has an opportunity for a Research Scientist – Microbiome Expertise. In Research & Development (R&D) their ambition is providing innovative high-quality products, creating sustainable value, delivering superior user experience and enhancing health outcomes at all stages of life.

Job Description

Set Vision and Strategy: Drive preclinical and translational research to identify innovative technologies that offer benefits related to immune, gut and brain health. Keep up to date with scientific literature and patent landscape.

Innovate: Actively engage in innovation to build product pipeline: assess new ingredients and technologies; develop preclinical and translational clinical research strategies that generate new evidence for new benefits, messaging, and publications. Identify best-in-class external institutional partners to advance Abbott Nutrition research programs. Generate research data for patent applications.

Communicate: Develop early-stage research-based content and presentations for delivery to internal and external audiences. Communicate research results to scientists and effectively translate findings to non-scientists. Draft and review manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

Work Cross-Functionally: Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., nutrition science, early-stage development scientists, product development, commercial representatives

[marketing and sales, sales training], public affairs, regulatory, legal) and external stakeholders (e.g., key opinion leaders, customers, and consumers). Serve as early-stage research lead within cross- functional working groups such as: new product development, process improvement, and external program development teams.

Understand Competitive Landscape: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitors’ products, ingredients, features, and benefits; monitor educational events; understand implications of competitor activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • PhD with demonstrated expertise in microbiome science, immunology and gastroenterology; background in nutrition is desirable but not required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience; experience working in industry setting highly

  • 3-5 years basic research, clinical, industry, and/or academic experience that blends science and business preferred.
