The Company is developing state-of-the-art technologies in cultivated meat and Food Science area and developing succulent, tender, and delicious meat alternative products.  They are expanding their team of professionals. Process Engineer – Food will conduct research and develops new innovative processes.

Responsibilities

  • Works with professionals to design equipment, develop process flow diagrams and equipment layouts for new and existing food products.
  • Ensures that designs and layouts conform to specifications, code requirements, and food safety requirements.
  • Communicates with equipment vendors and co-packers to obtain all necessary designs, drawings, and utility information.
  • Coordinates with outside engineering and architectural resources on all aspects of design; communicates with permitting and regulatory agencies as necessary.
  • Provides on-site project support to assist in accurate process equipment installation with contractors using the project installation drawings.
  • Develop experiment designs, collects and records data.
  • Provide technical support to the Food Science, Culinary team, Science team and Marketing team members.
  • Prepare oral and written reports for all activities and present findings.
  • Develop and modify SOP’s for new and existing products.
  • Maintain neat and clean work area and ensure functionality of all equipment.
  • Provide technical support to review patents and other intellectual properties.
  • Author patents on development activities.
  • Applies tools, data, expertise and drive out a solution and make a decision.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to meet these requirements with or without accommodations:
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time are common.
  • Ability to move up to 50 lbs may occasionally be required.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of pilot plant, laboratory and common office equipment.
  • Walking up and down stairs.

Working Environment

  • The job is performed indoors in laboratory, traditional office, and factory settings.  Activities include:
  • Extensive bench work and periodically sitting at a computer monitor and/or telephone.
  • Minor traveling including at production sites is required.
  • PPE is required in certain areas of the facility.

About You

  • BS degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years previous experience of process engineering preferably in food, plant-based food, cultured food area is desirable.
  • A basic knowledge of fats and oil chemistry, as well as ingredients functionality is desirable.
  • A collaborative approach and strong critical thinking capabilities.
  • Experience with working and developing new innovative food processes.
  • Familiarity with FSMA (Food Safety and Modernization Act) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in scaling bench-scale processes.
