Our client has quickly become a major manufacturer and distributor of Asian food products. Through their brands, they offer an extensive range of frozen packaged food products. Backed by a global company with over 60 years of experience in the food industry, their mission is to drive awareness of Asian food, and provide only the best quality products to U.S. households across the US.

This position will oversee all supplier and co-packer quality programs ensuring adherence to the company, customer and regulatory body’s food safety and quality standards in addition to driving improved performance to deliver business results. As this is a new role, this individual will be building the strategy and strengthen the current program.

The manager will lead supplier/co-packer audits and ensure execution on program requirements including: auditing and gap closure, complaint management, policy adherence and ongoing monitoring of KPI’s including improvement in supplier performance. He/she will work closely with Procurement on identifying the right partners to deliver food safety and quality standards and assess/manage risk in partner selection. This role will work in close collaboration with Procurement, R&D and manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities Include

Quality and Food Safety Approval of New Suppliers and Co-Packers

Review and approve new suppliers and co-packers to ensure the suppliers and co-packers’ programs and finished products adhere to Clients requirements and specifications.

Quality and Food Safety Management of Suppliers and Co-Packers

Manage periodic audits and visits to ensure suppliers and co-packers are adhering to Client’s requirements and approval status is maintained.

Organize and follow up on action plans for non-conformances for suppliers and co-packers.

Manage suppliers and co-packers complaints, investigation and responses.

Manage  Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP).

Monitor KPI’s for suppliers and co-packers and establish action plans to drive improvement.

Drive continuous improvements with Client’s programs requirements and supplier/co-packer performance.

Ensure full implementation of food safety and quality policies & specifications related to suppliers and co-packers.

Liaise with R&D, Procurement, facility QA team on critical discussions, program changes and rollouts related to supplier quality.

Support quality & food safety crisis and incident management related to raw materials and subcontracted products.

Requirements:

Bachelor / Masters Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or equivalent

5+ years Supplier and Co-Packer Quality Management experience in food environment

HACCP Certified, PCQI Certified, Excellent communication skills
