Consultant role

Join a 4 year-old company that has developed a modular system that is the first of its kind. It can perform any number of food assembly tasks in any order, completely configurable to any restaurant’s process. Starting with pizza, their system will soon be able to make a wide variety of foods including sandwiches, salads, bowls, and more. Work closely with the Chief Food Scientist to execute the organization’s strategic plan as part of the R&D Leadership Team.

Mentor high level engineers in problem assessment, testing approach, documentation, clear responsibilities, time management and report generation.

Work with engineers and technician towards optimizing current automation.

Identify new processing technologies and determine the financial feasibility to achieve cost savings objectives.

Reviews reports on test results, his/her observations, suggestions regarding new tools needed for effective testing, other support to enable team to succeed.

Make suggestions of external resources/expertise that can be leveraged to augment missing expertise within Company’s food handling equipment.

Support future evolution of Company’s pizza line with ideas, relationships with equipment suppliers etc.

Experience Required

A champion of process development with an influential voice that provides sound engineering, scientific and business perspectives.

A coach and developer of motivated and enthusiastic engineers. You demonstrate strong performance management skills in developing annual objectives, providing on-going feedback, delivering annual reviews and supporting personal development.   You set high executional standards and expectations for the R&D team and drive continuous process improvement bringing new ways of working and ideas that expand our capabilities.  You demonstrate technical curiosity and seek input through external networks and benchmarks.

The food processing development and commercialization expert in R&D you train others in this capability and transfer insights into actions guiding the development of sound processes.

Problem solving skills, being able to anticipate what might happen.

BS in Food Processing, Mechanical or other engineering degree.

This is a one year, 20 hours per week contract for a consultant. The perfect candidate would be someone who has retired from a food manufacturer as a Senior Manager or Director of Process Engineering. There is no relocation, as this individual will be working from home with very limited travel.​
