Senior Sanitation Program Manager

Our client is the world’s leading producer of cereal and a leading producer of convenience foods. They have openings available for a Senior Sanitation Program Manager in their Memphis facility. This plant is a 24/7 union facility with over 300 employees. This position develops, implements and continuously improves facility sanitation programs, polices and key performance indicators for the facility. There may be direct sanitation crew supervision or direct reports in some facilities. Additionally, this role is responsible for managing sanitation spend and meeting sanitation budget.

Reporting to the quality Manager, this individual will be managing 2 supervisors and 12 sanitation employees. They will be developing policies and procedures to insure an excellent sanitation program.  They will routinely engage with Plant Leadership Team included QFS, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering to ensure the appropriate maintenance and sanitary design of both facility and equipment.

The successful candidate will be the key contact for third party external suppliers and services, including Integrated Pest Management, chemical and / or tool suppliers, sanitation software and third party cleaning contractors.

They will directly manage the sanitation budget as determined by the facility. They will be asked to develop a 3-5 year sanitation plan for the plant as continued upgrades of equipment and facility are occurring regularly. Decisions to undertake medium and large- scale projects may not be made by the plant sanitarian, but such decisions may be strongly informed/ influenced by this role.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities

The role will be responsible for:

Planning, coordinating and ensuring effective execution of all Plant-based housekeeping and cleaning activities (both routine and non-routine)

Management and delivery of 3rd Party Contract providers in relation to all housekeeping, cleaning and pest control activities for the Site, including partnering to improve efficiency and continuously improve on cost and service.

Lead improvement activities in relation to sanitation and pest control, and report relevant statistics and improvements on a daily, weekly, monthly basis (Sanitation KPI’s)

Coaching, providing guidance and supporting the workforce in continuously improving and further developing the Food Safety standards for the Site

Supporting the development and roll-out of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s) and Standard Work Instructions (SWI’s) in relation to Plant-wide cleaning activities.

Ensuring adherence to required safety, quality and environmental standards within all cleaning activities on Plant.

Supports plant hygienic design risk assessments for new and existing equipment and infrastructure to meet sanitation and business objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Education

BS degree in Food Science or equivalent science related degree or engineering degree.

Plant, Quality, Food Safety, Sanitation, Operations, Engineering, Management/ Supervisor Experiences FDA Regulated Facilities

Technical Education and Training: Sanitation, Pest Control, HACCP, Microbiology and Food Regulations.

Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, communication, presentation, coaching, leadership and people skills required.

Excellent leadership skills including hiring of others and mentoring of supervisors.
