Our client is a global manufacturer of fiber additives used in the food, pharmaceutical, and industrial markets. The Company has assets in the US and Europe, with plans for expansion in South America and Asia. Sales in 2013 exceeded $100MM and the Company is experiencing impressive revenue growth from on-going acquisition and market-share expansion. This dynamic company is positioned to double revenue and earnings over the next 4-5 years. They currently have a new opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager at their plant in the Midwest.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is a salaried position reporting directly to the Director of Technical Services and Quality.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports directly to the Director of Quality Blending and includes, but is not limited to, these accountabilities:

Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.

Performing Root Cause Analysis for Food Safety and Quality issues.

Assessing both supplier’s and own company’s product specifications and customer requirements.

Agreeing to in-house standards.

Defining procedures in conjunction with operating staff.

Setting up and maintaining controls and documentation.

Performing quality-related training needs.

Liaising with other managers and staff, particularly in areas such as design, production and purchasing.

Ensuring tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated, if necessary.

Supervising technical staff in carrying out tests in a laboratory environment.

Writing technical and management system reports.

Bringing staff together and driving the group to plan, formulate and agree on comprehensive quality procedures.

Acting as the key contact with customers’ auditors and taking responsibility for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers’ specifications.

Lead the Food Safety meetings.

Act as the SQF Practitioner for the facility.

Oversee the development, implementation, review, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Food Safety Plan.

Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System.

Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the entire SQF System.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience in food industry QA and/or quality control laboratory management is preferred.

PCQI training or equivalent experience (FSMA training).

Management experience is required, preferably in a quality lab.

HACCP certification and SQF Practitioner certification (GFSI program equivalent: BRC, ISO, FSSC) is strongly preferred.

Resourceful problem solver who takes the initiative in addressing challenging issues.

Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Computer skills in MS Office, Analysis of Data, other quality/analytical software.

Ability to work independently and as a team member who is approachable and personable.

Excellent time-management skills, adept at managing multiple priorities.

Bachelor’s degree in Science (Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry).
