Our client is a leading manufacturer of refrigerated dips and spreads. They have a new opportunity for a Group Leader, Process Engineering, to join their global engineering team at their location in the mid-Atlantic states.

They are looking for a Leader to achieve deliverables in safety, quality, cost, schedule, reliability, and efficiency. As part of a broader Process Group and Engineering team, the ideal person will execute innovative projects while consistently demonstrating expertise and excellence in food processing.

Responsibilities

Lead the Process Engineering Group to deliver projects, such as dry and wet process handling equipment (tanks, valves, piping, instrumentation); instrumentation and process control; refrigeration, cooling, chilling, and freezing equipment; material handling equipment; and sanitation and food safety equipment.

Establish start-up criteria and manage the engineering, construction, and operations resources from design through qualification.

Generate estimates, write Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR), and manage project budgets.

Manage full RFQ/RFP process, negotiate contracts and issue purchase orders for materials, equipment and services.

Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Demand Planning, Purchasing and Sales to understand and satisfy business needs.

Partner with external stakeholders for detailed engineering, construction management and installation.

Manage third-party contractors onsite to ensure safety, quality, timeliness and project adherence.

Manage direct reports’ performance through coaching, development and mentoring.

Requirements

BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering

7+ years of Capital Project Engineering experience

Experience in the CPG, Food, Beverage, or Pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage projects valued $5M or greater.

Experience with GMP and HACCP and all relevant FDA, NSF, and USDA codes is required.

Solid understanding of relevant OSHA and EPA regulations.

Working knowledge of SAP cost management systems is desirable.

Strong leadership, problem solving, and collaboration skills.

Ability to reduce complex problems to simple set of solutions;  communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.

Experience in a startup or rapid growth environment is a huge plus.

Role will require up to 30% travel.  Additional flexibility needed to lead and participate in international conference calls to connect with global regions/time zones.
